Paris Hilton pleads guilty of drug possession in Las Vegas

September 20th, Paris Hilton pleaded guilty to drug possession and obstructing an officer in a deal that will save her from serving a one-year term in jail. In return, she has to pay $2,000 in fines, complete 200 hours of community service and complete what is being described as an "intensive" substance abuse program.
 
On August 27th the 26 year old heiress and Cy Waits, her boyfriend, Nightclub manager of Tryst Club at the Wynn Hotel and Resort, Cy Waits were pulled over outside the Wynn and later charged with possession of controlled substance.

"Ms. Hilton understands the seriousness of the situation and appreciates the chance she is being given," the socialite's lawyer David Chesnoff told The Associated Press over the weekend. "She has to stay out of trouble."

On September 1, according to a representative of Wynn Las Vegas “socialite heiress Paris Hilton has been banned from the company’s properties following her arrest on charges of cocaine possession; and Cy Waits has been kicked out of the company."

Can the Fashionista and Dream Catchers Hair Extensions spokes person stay out of trouble for a year?  If not she will serve one full year in jail.

Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure told Hilton the Clark County Detention Center wasn't the Waldorf Astoria, the luxury hotel in New York.

Spread the Word Nevada Storybook annual gala Las Vegas guest speaker, Veronica Cortez

 The goal of Spread the Word Nevada is to promote literacy and to make it possible for all of Nevada's children to experience the magic of books.

This years Spread the Word gala is honoring NV Energy for their continuous support and financial generosity to the organization.

What better way to honor NV Energy; Veronica Cortez, not only is Veronica a huge fan of Spread the Word, but also a recipient of what the organization does for our community.

Veronica had been involved with Spread the Word since 2nd grade, now a Senior attending Rancho High School in Las Vegas, Veronica can still remember the first time Spread the Word delivered books to her school. Still in her possession is her original book bag they gave her at the kick-off assembly.

Her most exciting moment was realizing she did NOT have to give the books back.

Veronica was chosen to speak this evening based on her enthusiasm and her answers to a questionnaire and interview from the board of directors. Veronica said the impact from the program has changed her life. Her story stood out.

To get Veronica ready for this evening, Spread the Word, involved Las Vegas Celebrity Make Up Artist DiDi Perez-Greco, make up artist to Eva Longoria, Kim Kardashian, Mariah Carey and several other stars. DiDi volunteered her time to create the look for Veronica, on this auspicious occasion. On a regular basis, DiDi donates her time to the Las Vegas Community-why-she says; "it's the right thing to do and it makes me feel good."

When Veronica was asked what look she wanted, her response was a modern version of Betty Paige. Her dress, shoes and accessories spoke volume to the talented DiDi. To create her beautiful, yet youthful, look, DiDi began with smokey eyes, soft flirtatious eyelashes and finished with demure lips.

Veronica's Mom wanted her beautiful daughter to wear her hair in an upstyle and to accommodate the wishes of Mom, Andeen created Veronica's hairstyle was a modern version of a Betty Paige style. Soft subtle fingerwaves framed her face and a loose chignon was pinned in place at the nape of the neck

The Venetician Hotel, Las Vegas, was host to the annual Spread the Word Storybook gala and the theme for the evening is; "Unlock the World of Literacy," with all contributions and proceeds being used to benefit at risk children living in Nevada.
